What Hope Restoration Ministries does
Mission
Hope Restoration Ministries is a free one-year program that helps men who are caught in addiction to heroin, meth, alcohol and other drugs reach sobriety and re-enter life completely free from addiction and confident that they can make it in the "real" world.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Programs
Thrift store - the thrift store is our primary funding mechanism at the same time it also provides work experience for the men in the program. It is "work therapy" as many of them have never had jobs or they have been in jail or prison and have never learned to work a normal work day, or how to be a good employee. Serving at the thrift store provides that. In 2025 we had 30 men work at the thrift store who learned valuable life long employment skills, half of which went on to successfully find employment and move towards new careers upon graduation.
$326,892 spent59% of program spendingRecovery home - our 2 first phase recovery homes provde room and board for the men in the program for one year. This allows them to learn interpersonal relationship skills, conflict resolution, house keeping, cooking and more. The homes also facilitate the men's personal recovery through accountability and small group meetings. There is a house manager in each home that facilitates and manages the home and ensures that the men are following the guidelines and learning and growing in the areas that the homes provide. In 2025 we had 16 men successfully complete the one year program and graduate.
$154,251 spent28% of program spendingFresh start - when someone graduates from the program we offer a program called "fresh start". The purpose of this program is to help a graduate make the transition from program life back to a life integrated in real world. This includes purchasing a car for them (normally between $3500.00 to $4000.00) and rent assistance for 1-4 months to help them transition to a self-sustaining living situation. We may also provide other forms of financial assistance such as funds for gas money, food, clothing, etc, to help them be successful in their transition.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2020, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2020, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $494k to $203k (−59%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
8% of HOPE RESTORATION MINISTRIES’s revenue is contributions — more earned-revenue than three-quarters of its peers (82% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2018 → 2023: the base held at 1 funder, grant income rose $0 → $59.
2 of 5 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 91% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of HOPE RESTORATION MINISTRIES’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 4 of 5 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
HOPE RESTORATION MINISTRIES leans on a few funders — its largest provides 91% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
91% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund HOPE RESTORATION MINISTRIES.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2021 100% · 2022 100% · 2023 100% — broadly stable.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
91% of HOPE RESTORATION MINISTRIES's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $10k that is directly attributable, 50% of it comes from funders outside California, across 2 states.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $100k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
