As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.
Programs
Provide instruction in historic dance forms from the 18th through the 20th century through themed events and workshops. There are no prerequisites for participation. Participants are introduced to the dance forms, and in the process enhance their social skills and physical and mental health. These events benefit from 65-150 individuals.
$35,618 spent75% of program spendingThrough a series of weekly dance classes participants are introduced to a wide variety of English Country Dance forms dating from the 17th through the current century. The classes emphasize style and form and often include more complicated dances than can be included at our monthly events. These classes are intended for individuals who have mastered the basics movements of ECD and are interested in furthering their knowledge. Some classes require a more advanced skill level, and some are intended for individuals interested in leading or choreographing dances. Participation in these classes varies but averages 25-35 individuals.
$9,345 spent20% of program spendingPublic dances intended to introduce English Country Dance to a population which was unaware of the existence of the art form. These events include an instructor or instructors (callers) and teach simplified dances in the ECD style, introducing participants to the terminology and movements needed. Participation varies greatly but can often exceeds 100 individuals, many of whom begin attending our monthly or weekly events.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2021, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2021, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $27k to $36k (+33%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
22% of HISTORICAL TEA AND DANCE SOCIETY’s revenue is contributions — more earned-revenue than three-quarters of its peers (78% for the typical peer).
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 0 of the last 5 reported years ran a deficit.
Who funds it, year by year
2021 → 2023: the base held at 1 funder, grant income rose $19 → $31.
1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of HISTORICAL TEA AND DANCE SOCIETY’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
100% of HISTORICAL TEA AND DANCE SOCIETY's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $78 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
