What Healing Hope Cat Sanctuary does
Mission
SEE SCHEDULE O. . . . I could not check the box above!!! Help community and citizens by rescuing and removing stray cats. Also help individuals who can no longer keep their pet cats and need a place to take these animals that is not a public high kill shelter. We also on occasion remove cats from high kill shelters. We provide vet care and in many instances adopt out any suitable cat that has come to us. SEE SCHEDULE O.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.
Programs
Ongoing: Care and maintenance of the entity we call "Healing Hope Cat Sanctuary". The cats we take in are mainly permanent residents plus there are a few cats that are until they can go to a home or another rescue. We care for every aspect of their life from housing property maintenance to feeding to medial care and adoption. Since many of the cats we take in are unadoptable and cannot be handled or cared for by other feline rescue groups many of the cats stay here from the time of rescue until the time they die. More info is included in SCHEDULE O
$46,780 spent95% of program spendingThis one one part of our work has to do with helping stray street cats in San Clemente and nearby cities These are homeless felines who we take care of medically get them spayed or neutered and then try to find them homes. Often times due to health age or personality they end up staying here forever. This year 2023 we only took two cats off the street There medical costs were minimal compared to previous years,
$1,358 spent3% of program spendingThis year a good part of our rescue work involved saving some hard to place cats from large high-kill shelters. We spent the expense amount listed here on only 2 cats. Expenses were vet care for one initial vet care for one senior unadoptable feline and initial vet care and neutering for another cat

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2021, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2021, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $200 to $258 (+29%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
100% of HEALING HOPE CAT SANCTUARY’s revenue is contributions — more reliant on donations than three-quarters of its peers (100% for the typical peer).
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 1 of the last 4 reported years ran a deficit.
Who funds it, year by year
2019 → 2023: the base held at 1 funder, grant income fell $2k → $569.
1 of 2 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 66% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of HEALING HOPE CAT SANCTUARY’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
HEALING HOPE CAT SANCTUARY leans on a few funders — its largest provides 66% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
66% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund HEALING HOPE CAT SANCTUARY.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2019 100% · 2020 100% · 2021 94% · 2022 100% · 2023 100% — broadly stable.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
66% of HEALING HOPE CAT SANCTUARY's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $2k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from funders outside California, across 1 state.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $3k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
