What Gatherfor Inc does
Mission
Our purpose is to support neighbors in meeting their own needs through their relationships with each other.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.
Programs
This year we supported 10 teams of 3-5 Neighbors residing in Brownsville Brooklyn coming together to support one another. Each team receives 300 month to have a monthly gathering as an anchor point for their connection and is led by an elected captain with the role of making sure those monthly gatherings happen and of checking in one-on-one with each member of the team. As a group Neighbors cultivate friendships celebrate special occasions and one anothers accomplishments rally around one another in times of difficulty and share resources.
$55,952 spent68% of program spendingWe launched a new initiative called GatherFor: Moms partnering with Brookdale Hospitals OB GYN department. The program organizes mothers who have given birth in the same month into GatherFor Neighbors Teams whom we support in the same way as our normal teams while they raise their kids. The goal is for them to raise their kids together. Weve begun with one Mom Team so far as a pilot.
$770 spent1% of program spendingWe launched a new program called the House of Interbeing focused on supporting different Neighbors to meet their needs through relationships with each other: Palestinians and Israeli peace makers working to take peace into their own hands. Because Israelis and Palestinians have difficulty getting together we brought a delegation of Israelis and Palestinians together at Plum Village a Buddhist monastery in France sponsoring their flights visas food accommodation and training at the monastery. They learned the skills of meditation mindful walking deep listening speaking from the heart and touching and transforming their suffering and trauma.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2021, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2021, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2021 to 2022, from $4k to $87k (+1946%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
100% of GATHERFOR INC’s revenue is contributions — more reliant on donations than three-quarters of its peers (91% for the typical peer).
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 2 of the last 5 reported years ran a deficit.
Who funds it, year by year
2021 → 2023: the base narrowed from 3 funders to 2 funders, grant income rose $23k → $75k.
2 of 7 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 23% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of GATHERFOR INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
GATHERFOR INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 51% of grant income and the top three 83%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
46% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund GATHERFOR INC.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2021 43% · 2022 56% · 2023 67% — growing more concentrated.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
GATHERFOR INC draws 100% of its grant income from funders outside California, across 4 states in all.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $35k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
