01What it does

What Friends of Woodland Park Inc does

Mission

To preserve and improve this historic Houston, TX public park (second oldest in the entire city established in 1903) and to affect educational opportunities for all who visit and enjoy the park.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

Program

  1. This year we continued to work with Boy and Girl Scout troops on beautification projects in the park including BSA Eagle award service projects including the construction of a land bridge for the hiking trail and for the removal of tires from the bayou. Several clean up events were supported by scout troops in the community and included the scouts, their leaders, parents, friends, and volunteers. and several were performed by corporate work groups seeking to contribute to the community. The number of people participating in these events totaled over 350 but the benefits derived affected thousands (all those who visited the park during the year.) We sponsored several new community concerts and held our annual free community picnic which we refer to as "Happy Trails and Hot Dogs". We purchased several reusable event materials. We had our annual insurance, PO Box and website maintenance expenses. We also sponsored elementary school children's field day in the park as well as after school enrichment programs in the park community building. A decorative split rail fence (section one over 300ft) was fund raised for and constructed bordering the nature preserve.

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of FRIENDS OF WOODLAND PARK INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of FRIENDS OF WOODLAND PARK INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $140 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
