Programs
Non-Violent Direct Action (NVDA) Trainings - We regularly prepare trainings for local community members on NVDA principles, its historical importance in American social justice movements, de-escalation tactics, and safety protocols. In 2023 we had at least 5 in person events. Expenses are normally higher when we do more in person events which require space rentals and often provide food. These activities are funded by the Climate Emergency Fund Grant)
$0 spentHeaded for Extinction Talks - We provided at least 12 online events to give presentations on the science and facts about the climate crisis. These talks are intended to inspire drastic action to prevent irreversible effects of fossil fuel reliance on future biodiversity, pollution, supply chains and more. Program expenses are higher when we do more in person events as they require space rentals and often provide food. We also hosted 20 online Introduction to Extinction Rebellion events which contain much of the same information as the Headed for Extinction talks. This activity is covered under our Climate Emergency Fund Grant.
$0 spentArt Installations - We executed a number of artistic projects to call out lies and misinformation from media and other entities regarding the impacts of the climate crisis. Mosted notably we created a pipes sculpture to include in our campaign against Washington Gas. We hosted at least 10 art build events but had many more informal ones.
$0 spentSocial Support - We hosted 6 in person meditation and discussion circles and 1 specific Climate Emotions circle to create a community of care in the face of climate change disasters, burnout, and mental health issues. We also provide regular happy hours or social events, like Climate Caroling during the holiday season.
$0 spentOther Events: In 2023, we hosted many webinars discussing our campaign against Washington Gas's Project Pipes. These included The Truth about Washington Gas and 'How Washington Gas is taking your money and burning your future.' We hosted public discussions about the project and events geared at pressuring Washington Gas and the City Council

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2021, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2021, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $72k to $24k (−67%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.

Who funds it, year by year
2021 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 2 funders, grant income fell $91k → $17k.
2 of 5 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 21% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of EXTINCTION REBELLION DC - Educational Fund’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
EXTINCTION REBELLION DC - Educational Fund leans on a few funders — its largest provides 79% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund EXTINCTION REBELLION DC - Educational Fund.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2021 100% · 2022 100% · 2023 58% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
EXTINCTION REBELLION DC - Educational Fund draws 100% of its grant income from funders outside Washington, D.C., across 2 states in all.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $34k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
