What Elcho Historical Society does
Mission
A community-based organization with a collaborative and dedicated mission in collecting, preserving and sharing the history of Elcho, Wisconsin and the surrounding communities. The museum will house historical artifacts. There are plans for sections in the museum to highlight our local logging and railroad history, local veterans who served in the armed forces, the relationship with local settlers with our Native American ancestral neighbors and a display of historical chainsaws. Future generations will experience rotating and interactive exhibits.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.
Programs
Restoration began on the historic building that was gifted to the Elcho Historical Society to house a museum dedicated to reflecting the rich past of Elcho Wisconsin and surrounding communities. In 2022 the building was raised up and a full basement was dug out. Also the existing three layers of roofing were removed and a new roof was installed. In 2023 the front wall was restored to its original appearance, electricity and a new furnace were installed. In 2024 the windows were replaced, insulation installed, interior was replastered, caulked and painted. In 2025 handicapped accessible decks and ramps were installed and exhibit displays were created & installed.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2022, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2022, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2024 to 2025, from $45k to $68k (+53%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
100% of ELCHO HISTORICAL SOCIETY’s revenue is contributions — more donation-reliant than the typical peer (78% for the typical peer).
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 2 of the last 4 reported years ran a deficit.
