01What it does

What Earthviews Conservation Society does

Mission

EarthViews Conservation Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit environmental organization dedicated to the conservation and restoration of waterways. We use advanced mapping and data technology to document threatened aquatic ecosystems, advocate for their protection, and predict environmental risks. Our work supports scientists, policymakers, and communities through free and publicly available 360 degree imagery, water quality data, and geospatial mapping tools. We also engage the public through citizen science, education, and community outreach.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. Public Conservation Data Access and Operations EarthViews Conservation Society maintained mapping infrastructure, software, hosting, insurance, and operational support necessary to provide public access to environmental documentation and conservation resources.

  2. EcoTrackrs Citizen Science Temperature Monitoring for Puget Sound EarthViews Conservation Society advanced EcoTrackrs, a citizen science initiative designed to strengthen Puget Sound environmental monitoring through volunteer kayaker participation and app-enabled field data collection. The program supports localized water temperature monitoring in nearshore and difficult to access aquatic areas where conventional sampling may be limited. Community-collected environmental data helps supplement regional temperature monitoring efforts, improve understanding of climate-related impacts on aquatic habitat conditions, and support long term conservation planning.

  3. Puget Sound Environmental Documentation and Mapping EarthViews Conservation Society conducted environmental documentation of Puget Sound shorelines under contract with the Washington State Department of Ecology. Using kayak based field operations and geospatial imaging systems, the organization captured approximately 2,500 miles of 360 degree high resolution shoreline imagery at regular intervals to support ecosystem monitoring, restoration planning, conservation analysis, and public environmental awareness. Data generated through this work contributes to long-term conservation decision-making and public access tools.
