01What it does

What Dare to Care Inc does

Mission

Dare to Care Inc serves the homeless and those in need in El Paso county Colorado and surrounding areas. We provide food, clothing, water, tarps, handwarmers, blankets and other necessities. There are over 3,200 homeless in our county and only 700 shelter beds. Temperatures are life threateningly cold at night. We try to help people stay alive and fed. We help as much as we can with what we have to work with. We also help More Than a Meal, the Springs Rescue Mission and the Salvation Army homeless shelter in our area.

As stated on its FY2022 Form 990-EZ.

Program

  1. During 2022 Dare to care distributed 61 coats, 170 hoodies, 266 hats, 381 pairs of gloves, 2,660 pairs of handwarmers, 174 scarfs, 132 rain ponchos, 60 pairs of jeans, 88 blankets, 339 pairs of socks, $12,695 worth of food and water, 55 pairs of shorts and 18 tarps. We serviced over 1,000 people in our area. We collected donations of food and clothing and distributed everything we got. We were given $4,870 in grants from Walmart and put that money to very good use. Our volunteers do not get paid. Only the president/ceo earns minimum wage and that is only for actual time spent collecting and/or distributing food/clothing and is reimbursed $.585 for milage.
