01What it does

What Cumberland cultural foundation does

Mission

Our primary purpose is to create a public cultural gathering place that allows people to experience our rich history and blossoming art community at no cost to them while maintaining the integrity and historic property at 104 Washington Street.

As stated on its FY2026 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. One of our largest accomplishments and tasks every year is maintaining the property at 104 Washington street. It is one of the oldest former residential buildings still standing and is a true cultural gem. This past year we were able to repoint our brick wall, repair the cast iron fence, and the retainer wall beneath it, and patch the roof. This building allows us to reach tens of thousands of people.

  2. Providing unique cultural events that mix history and art together is a key aspect of the organization. This past year we held an array of different events, and saw over ten thousand people in attendance.

  3. The organization works to shape and enhance our community through positive change and enriching the city. We were able to find a new mural and help launch a new art festival in Cumberland last year.
