Mission
Cmaa is the voice of the program and construction management industry and the premier resource for professionals working in the built environment.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Programs
Cmci - as an independent entity of cmaa, the construction manager certification institute (cmci) administers construction management credentialing programs. They are: 1) the ansi-accredited certified construction manager (ccm) credentialing program that re/certifies hundreds of ccms each year. This designation is based on education and mastery of the critical skills of construction management, 2) the certified associate construction manager (cacm), which is a mid-career credential offering an opportunity to be recognized prior to achieving the ccm, and 3) the construction manager-in-training (cmit) certificate program provides an entry pathway for early career professionals to become successful construction managers. The cmit allows the credential holder to show their supervisor that they are continuing their career growth. Cmci promotes the recognition of its programs as the reliable indicator of professional qualification and accomplishment to the industry.
Conferences - cmaa is dedicated to providing education, specialized training, and networking opportunities for construction and program management professionals working together to realize project and program success. Cmaa national events foster information exchange through thought- provoking and inspiring educational sessions and workshops, technology demonstrations, exhibits, and hands-on learning labs while providing attendees with an opportunity to explore developments in their professional practice, industry benchmarks, and new developments. These events also provide practitioners at any career stage the opportunity to grow and learn the competencies required for high-performing construction management teams as well as business concepts, leadership, and communication skills to help successfully deliver capital projects.
Professional development - cmaa provides construction managers with a variety of traditional and digital education and training opportunities that are dedicated to improving the overall competency and performance of the industry. By offering publications that define the industry standards, virtual and in-person training to steward those standards, as well as webinars, town halls, and technical tours, cmaa is the primary source to enhance education within the profession. Cmaa is also the lead society for accreditation of professional degree programs in construction management by abet. Working through abet, cmaa is able to make a significant contribution to developing a qualified, professional workforce.
The 3 programs described on its FY2024 Form 990, listed largest first by expense.
The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2020 to 2021, from $3.4M to $4.2M (+23%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 2 of the last 8 reported years ran a deficit.

Leadership and staff
The officers, directors, trustees and key employees listed on each return. Joined and no longer listed compare each filing with the year before, matching people by surname and first initial; a year after a gap, or a roster under three people, has no comparison.
