01What it does

What Connected Dmv does

Mission

Connected Dmv's mission is to deliver regional initiatives together for a stronger and more equitable future.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

On its FY2024 return the organization reported a significant change in how it conducts a program.

Effective december 20, 2023, all rights to quantum world congress (qwc) transferred to qwc events, llc. Connected Dmv entered into a services agreement with qwc events, llc on january 1, 2024 to provide the operating services necessary to produce qwc. Services provided by cdmv to qwc events, llc include planning, execution, and post-event wrap up and reconciliation functions required to produce the event.

Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 3).

  1. Connected Dmv is initiatives-based and works with regional organizations across washington d.c., maryland, and virginia - the dmv - to drive ongoing improvements to social, digital, and physical infrastructure. We focus on initiatives that span local jurisdictions and require public-private-academia-community collaboration to best achieve the dual objectives of enduring economic health and social equity. Three regional collaborations are the backbone of our strategy: * dmv regional congress * regional economic develoment strategy * we are greater washington joint funding program office

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2020 → 2022: the base broadened from 1 funder to 2 funders, grant income fell $100k → $85k.

1 of 5 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 1% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Left out of every figure on this page: $290k from 3 payers (the payer shares this organization's board, largest Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Mid-Atlantic States Inc). These are real filings, and they are not money CONNECTED DMV raised.

From the IRS filings of CONNECTED DMV’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

CONNECTED DMV leans on a few funders — its largest provides 82% of grant income and the top three 94%; half comes from just 1 funder.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $10k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
