The foundation's primary exempt purpose is to advance charitable, educational, religious, health, and community-serving purposes by supporting u.s.-based section 501(c)(3) organizations and other tax-exempt nonprofit organizations whose activities further public or exempt purposes through the development, financing, acquisition, ownership, and operation of energy-related capital projects that reduce operating costs, improve community resilience, and allow those organizations to devote more resources to their missions. The foundation raises charitable contributions, grants, and other philanthropic support from u.s.-based individuals and organizations and deploys those resources to support eligible tax-exempt nonprofit organizations and their mission-serving facilities. Supported projects may include solar photovoltaic systems, battery storage, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, building electrification, energy-efficiency improvements, and other energy-related facility improvements. Program
The interfaith solar campaign (isc), a fiscally sponsored project of Collectivesun Foundation, worked diligently in 2025 to help advance solar projects for communities of faith. In 2025, isc also began an information sharing and collaboration effort with other local groups and organizations that are involved in assisting their churches in their solar journey. We convened these leaders who are involved in utah, north carolina, massachusetts, georgia, texas, missouri, and new england states in an effort to work together to become a stronger voice. We currently meet monthly and provide information and support. Isc continues to build a movement of faith based communities who through their local organizing efforts can accelerate solar adoption, cost savings and community resilience.
