What Coalition for Headache and Migraine Patients does
Mission
CHAMP mission is to improve the lives of people with migraine, cluster, and other headache diseases by aligning coalition participants and empowering patient voices.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Programs
On its FY2024 return the organization reported starting a significant new program.
CHAMP stopped incubation of Migraine at School programming and delivered all program materials to the Danielle Byron Henry Foundation, resulting in a reduction in CHAMP staffing. CHAMP also opted to change the annual in-person Retreat Migraine event to a virtual webinar in an effort to 1) re-evaluate the program for ROI and impact on patient community and 2) recognize shift in funding support for Retreat Migraine programming.
Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 2).
Migraine at School collects and creates the best resources to ensure every student has the opportunity to flourish in school. This program as active in 126 schools in 36 states. It currently has 100+ volunteer ambassadors in the U.S.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2021, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2021, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $1.6M to $716k (−55%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
97% of COALITION FOR HEADACHE AND MIGRAINE PATIENTS’s revenue is contributions — more donation-reliant than the typical peer (82% for the typical peer).

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Where its funders are
COALITION FOR HEADACHE AND MIGRAINE PATIENTS draws 100% of its grant income from funders outside California, across 1 state in all.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $50 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
