What Childrens Homes of Southern California does
Mission
Children Homes of Southern California provides services to chidren and families in transition out of homelessness and poverty.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.
Program
For many years, the Organization provided services to children and families transitioning out of homelessness and poverty. In addition, the Organization operated residential facilities for youth in need of assistance and supervision, offering a supportive living environment for at-risk youth. The program provided an average of 950 beds per month across facilities in the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles County. In 2024, the Organization decided to discontinue the program due to the high cost of operations and damage to rental properties caused by residents. We are currently exploring new opportunities to continue fulfilling our charitable mission, which has guided our work for the past 93 years.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $632k to $121k (−81%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2017 100% · 2018 100% · 2019 100% · 2020 12% · 2021 46% · 2022 31% · 2023 100%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
