01What it does

What Center of Musical Studies Inc does

Mission

Conducts music and arts festival on the amalfi coast, italy.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. Acmf festival: organizes and conducts annual summer music festival and institute in italy. Institute consists of intensive study session where students register and pay tuition to receive private instruction in a full-immersion format while at the same time participating in group workshops and master classes. The festival took place every year since 1997, with the exception of 2020 and 2021 when the covid pandemic forced cancellation. As explained below, it was suspended for 2025.

  2. In late 2024/early 2025 the Center of Musical Studies learned that certain facilities (rehearsal space, practice rooms, concert hall) critical to its successful operations, would no longer be available in its longtime location. Efforts to find a suitable short-term solution in the surrounding area were unproductive. In addition, costs had risen dramatically in that part of Italy. As a result, the major activity of CMS was temporarily suspended for the 2025 season. Instead, the organization committed itself to revising its mission. CMS officers invested their time and efforts in exploring and evaluating potential locations in Italy and France, among others. CMS officers also consulted with the board about adapting its activity in order to adjust to the new realities on the ground. The outcome thus far has been a shift to shorter, more limited programs targeted at a different demographic. In 2026 CMS has undertaken two short, highly focused programs in April and October of this year. These programs have garnered full attendance and been targeted at audiences that do not need the space required in the past.

Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.

Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
