Program
Our Chesapeake Orchestra provided free summer concerts by the only professional symphonic orchestra in Southern Maryland. Concerts are attended by 20,000 concertgoers annually. We helped build community, aided in economic development, and enhanced the quality of life in our region. We were awarded by two Maryland Governors (1 Democratic and 1 Republican) for our activity developing cultural activity and economic development. This season the Chesapeake Orchestra Series is in its 25th anniversary season and has performed for hundreds of thousands of concertgoers. Our Maryland Youth Symphony provides authentic, rigorous orchestral training, and of course, culminating in several concerts each season for a large ensemble of wonderfully diverse aspiring musicians. Many of our students go on to important music conservatories and music schools. We have an impressive record of those students going on to play professionally. With our program, the whole family becomes engaged in this art form. Our relationship with the Alba Music Festival based in Northern Italy, celebrates its 20th anniversary this spring. The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $19k to $34 (−100%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2017 12% · 2018 10%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
96% of CHESAPEAKE ORCHESTRA INC’s revenue is contributions — more reliant on donations than three-quarters of its peers (64% for the typical peer).

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left
44% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is.
