What Caravan Arts Nfp does

Mission

CARAVAN Arts, NFP is a nonprofit that focuses on building bridges of peace and understanding through the arts between diverse cultures, peoples and spiritual traditions. CARAVAN does this through art exhibitions, journeys and creative engagement.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. 1. EXHIBITIONS CARAVAN curated and organized three major art exhibitions in 2025 focused on building bridges between those of diverse backgrounds (peoples, cultures and spiritual traditions). NOAH: A Future Hope CARAVAN finalized the curation and then launched its groundbreaking exhibition titled NOAH: A Future Hope on the importance of caretaking the earth in the context of todays climate crisis. The exhibition is inspired by the story of Noah, the ancient flood narrative found within the Abrahamic faiths. The exhibition features three premier contemporary artists from the faith traditions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The exhibitions tour opened in Houston and it will travel around the US for several years. Surrounding each exhibition are peacebuilding programming such as artist panels, musical concerts and educational initiatives. SYMBOLS OF LIFE: BEYOND PERCEPTION - An Artistic Exploration of the Human Soul SYMBOLS OF LIFE: BEYOND PERCEPTION was an exhibition we curated in Dakar, Senegal, following the Dakar Art Biennale, that explored the spiritual dimension of human existence through the lens of African Sufi and indigenous traditions. The exhibition brought together…

  2. 2. JOURNEYS CARAVAN host international journeys that provide transformative experiences through the lens of culture and art. In 2025, CARAVAN led its first arts and culture journey to the country of Egypt where CARAVANs mission originated, introducing 31 participants to the country through the lens of its culture and art. The journey focused on learning firsthand from Egyptian artists painters, sculptors, weavers, alabaster and papyrus artists, dancers and musicians, and also visiting historic and contemporary cultural venues with the purpose of providing an exploration of Egypts diverse peoples, cultures and artistic traditions. The journey provided an opportunity to encounter a wide array of people and experiences, opening doors into a deeper understanding of others, a central tenet of CARAVANs peacebuilding and bridge-building mission. Extensive preparation works was also done for upcoming journeys in both Egypt and Senegal.

  3. 3. CREATIVE ENGAGEMENT CARAVAN elevates inspirational artistic voices through educational programming at our exhibitions, artist spotlights, speaking engagements, artist residencies, the Kahlil Gibran Award, and more. In 2025, CARAVAN coordinated the first ever Native American Artist Residency program in Africa, inviting Native American Lakota artist Jim Yellowhawk for a month-long artist residency in Senegal, West Africa, entailing a collaboration initiative with a noted Senegalese artist, cultural immersion in the local art scene, and a culminating four-month long exhibition. Hundreds of visitors attended the various programmatic events related to the Native American Artist Residency which included artist talks and panels, native dancing, native flute performances, and educational presentations to elementary, secondary and university students in Senegal. Additionally, CARAVAN published 12 Artist Spotlights (extensive interviews), awarded the Kahlil Gibran Award to Egyptian artist Mohamed Abla, had numerous speaking engagements around the US and internationally, and also developed a range of artistic and cultural events and programs tailored to the specific needs of their…

1 of 2 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 19% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $5k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
