What C-Fit Community does
Mission
Our mission is to create a culture of positive change that enhances the health, well-being and quality of life within Chesterfield County. We do this by collaborating and engaging with our residents, visitors and valued partners.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.
Programs
Youth-Focus Initiatives: We continue to work in partnership with Thrive Birth To Five, Chesterfield County Public Schools, Chesterfield Mental Health Support Services, Chesterfield County Libraries, Chesterfield WIC and local pediatricians to promote The Basics Movement in Chesterfield County. Over 2000 Basics Kits (with program information, books, and engagement items) have been distributed throughout the community. In partnership with Chesterfield County Parks & Recreation, we have installed United Way Born Learning Trails at Bensley Community Center and Huguenot Park. We are currently planning the installation of another trail at Ettrick Park in early Spring 2025. This initiative will also include a story walk, youth gardening area and more. Chesterfield County parks attract thousands of visitors annually.
$9,684 spent25% of program spendingCommunity-Focused Initiatives: We implemented and manage the SNAP program (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) at the Chesterfield County Farmers Market. This process allows those with EBT eligibility to use those funds to purchase qualified food items at the market. In the 2024 market season, more than $3,700 of EBT funds was spent purchasing local produce and other locally sourced food items. We are replicating this program at the Latino Farmers Market at Rockwood Park in Chesterfield County in Spring 2025. We established the Chesterfield Wellness Mini Grant program and awarded our first recipients funding at the inaugural Chesterfield County Sports Hall of Fame Awards in September 2024. This grant program was created to elevate local programs/initiatives that increase the well-being of our community members. Our focus is on all populations and communities in Chesterfield County working through a lens of diversity, equity and inclusivity. The organizations selected received a total of $5,500 and represent the diverse population in Chesterfield County. We are dedicated to increase the funding for this program in future years.
$19,367 spent50% of program spendingCommunity Events: To increase visibility of C-Fit Community, we were a presenting sponsor for the Chesterfield County Earth Day Festival in 2023 and 2024 and the Chesterfield Outdoor Fest in 2024. These events focus on engaging Chesterfield families in environmental stewardship opportunities and learning about and experiencing fun, outdoor activities and adventures available in Chesterfield County. We will continue our partnership with both county events moving forward. Attendance for the 2024 events were approximately 3,000. We also participate in many community events for all who live in Chesterfield County; YMCA Healthy Kids Day, National Night Out Kickoff, Active Aging and Senior Triad, Caf? Con La Communidad and the First Responders Cultural Festival/Community Cup, just to name a few.
