01What it does

What British Virgin Islands Help and Care Inc does

Mission

The British Virgin Islands Help and Care, Inc. is organized and operated exclusively to raise money and awareness for (i) victims of the September 2017 hurricanes who are in need of financial assistance to rebuild their homes and/or small business, and (ii) to assist and support ongoing local endeavors designed to maintain the culture, environment and local ownership of the British Virgin Islands. The organization will identify classes of charitable need, determine recipients who fall within those classes, and objectively determine grantees based on specified criteria. The process will be in accordance with the IRS's charitable class requirements, ensuring that there is no improper benefit to individuals.

As stated on its FY2019 Form 990-EZ.

Program

This return represents the first full year of the British Virgin Islands Help and Care, Inc. The organization activities in the year include: We have added four BVI citizens to our Board of Directors. They are each highly regarded citizens of the British Virgin Islands, and together they bring a wealth of local knowledge, as well as deep connections with the local communities and government. Additionally, they have hands on knowledge of where the greatest needs are and how our funds can have the most impact. With their added research and recommendations, we have embarked on our first major project. We are assisting the BVI Athletic Association by funding the purchase of a significant piece of equipment called a Hammer Cage (plus Discus & Concentric Circles). This equipment will help them rebuild their training facility used by the BVI Track and Field Olympic Team, as well as other high school and college athletes. For many years, Track and Field events have been very popular in most all Caribbean Countries. Prior to Hurricane Irma, this training facility, set in the heart of Road Town, Tortola, hosted many international events. Since Irma, the facility has been steadily…

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS HELP AND CARE INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS HELP AND CARE INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $53k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
