What Breaking Barriers International does
Mission
Breaking Barriers International is an organization that works to uplift children in urban and impoverished areas who have experienced trauma or violence or live amongst it. We aim to support children impacted by trauma and violence while identifying the root causes and bringing awareness of their experiences and environments to others for greater understanding. We provide safe spaces and opportunities for children to heal, grow, and be exposed to new and positive experiences, and allow children to explore their untapped potential. The butterfly symbolizes transformation, hope, power of positive change, and the beginning of new life-a goal for all of our children. _
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.
Programs
Crooked path: this program serves children who have experienced violence or trauma or live amongst it. We help them heal, grow, and expose them to new experiences and opportunities. We operated within out-of-school time with weekly programming in safe spaces and allowed them to experience camps and community events.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2024, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2024, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2024 to 2025, from $27k to $19k (−30%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
100% of BREAKING BARRIERS INTERNATIONAL’s revenue is contributions — more reliant on donations than three-quarters of its peers (100% for the typical peer).
