What Breakfast Program at St Andrews does
Mission
The Breakfast Program at St. Andrew's is a community providing a daily hot breakfast and welcoming space to anyone who is in need. We do this to nourish and strengthen all those who come through our doors.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Programs
The Breakfast at St. Andrew's serves almost 100 meals daily and is run by a 12-member board of directors. More than 100 volunteers, many from outside the church, donate their time on a regular basis. Every morning from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., we welcome guests who come for a hot meal and the opportunity to enjoy it in a safe comfortable space. Guests include the young and old. Some are experiencing homelessness or struggling with addiction or mental health challenges, but most are working men and women who are trying to make ends meet. The Breakfast Program started with a simple menu of grits, oatmeal, pastries, juice, coffee and, on occasion, hardboiled eggs. Recently we have been able to expand our menu to include more protein and fresh fruits and vegetables. In addition to our standard offerings, our breakfast guests are now able to enjoy specialty items such as sausage, ham, quiche, scrambled eggs, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, and fresh fruits including watermelon and pineapple. We continue to look for ways to offer variety and nutrition within the confines of our budget and look forward to offering new menu items for our guests.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2019 to 2020, from $207k to $314k (+52%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
105% of BREAKFAST PROGRAM AT ST ANDREWS’s revenue is contributions — more reliant on donations than three-quarters of its peers (94% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 2 funders, grant income rose $6k → $12k.
4 of 7 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 34% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
BREAKFAST PROGRAM AT ST ANDREWS leans on a few funders — its largest provides 57% of grant income and the top three 94%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
91% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund BREAKFAST PROGRAM AT ST ANDREWS.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 100% · 2018 100% · 2020 73% · 2021 51% · 2022 97% · 2023 98% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
88% of BREAKFAST PROGRAM AT ST ANDREWS's grant income comes from Michigan funders.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $41k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
