01What it does

What Black Mustard Seed Community Services Group does

Mission

This organization was founded in response to a critical community need that was hidden but was widespread among the senior citizen community in Adams County, MS. To date, we operate a veteran service program where we consult with the veteran at no charge and offer initial filing for compensation and pension services from the V.A. based on service connected illness or injury. We provide Disaster and relief services within our immediate service areas in partnership with a local trucking company. We host and facilitate community outreach events with emphasis on new and expecting mothers, and separate events for senior citizens focusing on safety and security. We partner with our local Junior High and High Schools to provide period products to adolescents and older teens.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. Our organization has helped so many people across the Mississippi/Louisiana border. With very little operating funds and even fewer donors, we have managed to serve more than 582 families by offering free incontinence and personal hygiene products to senior citizens, we offer thousands of period products to our local school to support the fight against period poverty and it devastating outcomes when not appropriately addressed, and we have issued thousands of free diapers to babies of low income disadvantaged families.

  2. The year 2024, we were able to secure funding from sources outside of our small community network of service organizations and individuals. Although it was a first, it was a real milestone for our organization to have received its very first significant donation over $1000.00 from a single donor/organization. We were able to host 2 additional events this year.

1 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of BLACK MUSTARD SEED COMMUNITY SERVICES GROUP’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 1 of 3 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of BLACK MUSTARD SEED COMMUNITY SERVICES GROUP's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $16 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
