What Berlin Youth Hockey Association does
Mission
Berlin youth hockey is committed to introducing kids of all ages to the sport of ice hockey. We have teams for ages and abilities from as young as three years old to players in their senior year of high school. We believe that hockey develops skills both on and off the ice that build a foundation for a lifetime. From learning to balance school, responsibilities at home, time at the rink, family life, and friends, hockey encourages kids to learn time management skills that will later serve them in all facets of life.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.
Program
For the last 3 years, byh has been able to add an additional skills practice for all our 150+ players every week as well as a goalie only training session once a month. We have also added an additional tournament a the end of the year for our entire organization to attend together. This was all possible due to the generous donations from our sponsors and through fundraising efforts such as a road toll, golf tournament, etc. We have increased participation through advertising and now have enough players to fill two teams at every age level, which is something the organization has not had in over 10 years.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2023, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2023, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2023 to 2024, from $132k to $148k (+11%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
66% of BERLIN YOUTH HOCKEY ASSOCIATION’s revenue is contributions — about as donation-reliant as the typical peer (91% for the typical peer).
