What Benedictine Fellowship of St Laurence does
Mission
The purpose of the organization is to bring men and women to faith in jesus christ through the scriptural rule of st. Benedict. In order to accomplish this purpose, the organization will offer spiritual retreats of one or several days in duration under the direction of qualified clergy or monastics. These retreats will be offered on property located in fremont county, colorado; the organization also provides a campus for the foundation of at least one benedictine rule monastery following the rule of st. Benedict on this same property. The monastery of our lady and st. Laurence, established in 2013, operates within the bfsl and has fr. Theodore phillips as its abbot. The organization's mission also includes an icon studio for producing suitable devotional art for churches and individuals and a modern scriptorium for the composition of liturgical books for the use of churches. Lancelot andrewes press operates within the bfsl as a source for icons and liturgical books.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Program
The organization's three largest program services are accomplished in the areas of the monastery, lancelot andrews press and the st. Laurence cemetery and st. Sophia mausoleum. The monastery income and expense is related to the ongoing life of the monastery, it's resident monks, its visitors and the scheduled retreats hosted there. The lancelot andrews press publishes and sells spiritual books and icons related to the organization's mission. The st. Laurence cemetery and st. Sophiamausoleum provide economic burial spaces and services for the dead.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2024 to 2025, from $3.0M to $3.1M (+3%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Where its funders are
100% of BENEDICTINE FELLOWSHIP OF ST LAURENCE's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $2k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
