What Bear Valley USD Education Foundation does
Mission
Support Bear Valley USD Students by providing supplemental funds for educational programs and creating additional resources for extra curricular activities and resources for students and the community
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Programs
Community members came to the Foundation right after we received the property from the school district and asked that we consider constructing an aquatic center for the community. There was sufficient interest that we formed a working group to study the feasibility. We funded a focused feasibility study which presented the construction and operating costs for several options. The Foundation funded a preliminary design for the selected option and a fundraising study to determine if sufficient donors could be found to fund the construction cost of $45 million. The fundraising consultant attempted to locate donors to finance this amount but were unable to find a lead donor to get the fundraising process going. The Foundation decided the project was financially unfeasible and suspended it pending a lead donor. We have been unable to identify donors and have decided to cancel the program.
$70,591 spent93% of program spendingWe continue to maintain the trail system and have allowed several charity running and biking events to be held. The design of our Youth Sports Complex has been completed along with the environmental review process. A Mitigated Negative Declaration was approved by the School District in December and recorded with the County. The required permits from the County of San Bernardino and the State Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire) were in the final phase of the approval process at the end of the fiscal year. Construction is expected to begin early in the next fiscal year.
$5,264 spent7% of program spendingOur youth sports complex project will construct three full size baseball/softball fields and seven soccer fields of varying sizes to meet the needs of our local youth sports leagues. The project has completed environmental review and the state permitting process and is under review by the County of San Bernardino for a grading permit. The construction is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2025. The speed at which construction will proceed will depend on donations, both monetary as well as labor and equipment.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2020, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2020, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2020 to 2021, from $2.8M to $3.9M (+37%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
53% of Bear Valley USD Education Foundation’s revenue is contributions — about as donation-reliant as the typical peer (57% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2021 → 2023: the base held at 1 funder, grant income rose $24 → $43.
1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of Bear Valley USD Education Foundation’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
100% of Bear Valley USD Education Foundation's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $103 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
