Programs
In 2018, we held Answer2Cancer, Inc. full day event to bring resources, support and education at no charge to Portland, Oregon area cancer patients, their families and caregivers. Nearly 300 people attended the April 7, 2018 event. We also made presentations to community and health groups including Portland Oncology Pharmeceutical Society's leadership team. Additionally, we traveled to and began planning for 2019 and 2020 events in Bellingham, Spokane and the Tri-Cities, Washington. The 2020 event due to COVID-19, was held through an on-line format to reach those who were at higher risk due to suppressed immune systems. The event was held on October 3, 2020 and was title "Answer2Cancer Digital 2020" The event was attended by approximately 275 on-line attendees. In 2021, the focus of the year was education and outreach planning for events in 2022 and 2023.
$0 spentActivities and planning 2022-responded and wrote two small Advocacy grants to Pfizer and also applied for Advocate grant from PhRMA. In, October of 2022 traveled to Missoula and Billings Montana regarding the possibility of bringing the A2C program to MT in 2023. Received a favorable reception at both locations from representatives of Johnson & Johnson and the American Cancer Society's Cancer Action Network local director. Following up with Community Cancer Centers In MT and other organizations to begin the process for a summer 2023 event. In October of 2022, also traveled to Boise, ID meeting with a clinical trial specialist who is affiliated with a large health care system there at St. Luke's.
$0 spentIn 2023, we continued planning for 2024 patient education and support events in Eugene, Billings Montana and Boise Idaho. We worked closely with therapeutical companies to engage in patient education efforts with local health providers, policymakers and patient advocate organizations, to improve access to medicines for the underserved.
$0 spentA2C was invited to submit an Advocacy grant to Pfizer, which was funded at $10,000. Funds are being used on a digital media to support/increase awareness of a national patient survey to determine drug cost variables for patients and families. For 2025, working on a pitch for an A2C event in Eugene, in cooperation with the Willamette Valley Cancer institute in Eugene and throughout Lane County
$0 spent2025-Challenging year of reaching out to make deeper partnerships, attended Advocacy Day in Salem. Seeking viable sponsors for 2026 events. Pharmaceutical companies are changing their models and it is more difficult to obtain partnerships for events and programs. Cuts to Federal funding and stronger competition for dollars is creating a challenging environment. The Focus for this year was to develop relationships with partners for smaller events with smaller costs and larger impact. These take time to develop and move through the process. In 2025 A2C was invited to participate in the Advocacy activities with Vertex at the Oregon Capitol in March of 2025. Goal for 2026 is focused on a potential partnership and A2C event in Eugene, in cooperation with the Salem Cancer Community, Oregon Oncology Specialists and Willamette Valley Cancer Institute in Eugene/Lane County.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2018, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2018, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2024 to 2025, from $37k to $27k (−28%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
0% of ANSWER2CANCER’s revenue is contributions — more earned-revenue than three-quarters of its peers (100% for the typical peer).
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 2 of the last 6 reported years ran a deficit.
Who funds it, year by year
2020 → 2023: the base held at 1 funder, grant income rose $17 → $27.
1 of 2 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 66% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of ANSWER2CANCER’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
ANSWER2CANCER leans on a few funders — its largest provides 66% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
66% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund ANSWER2CANCER.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2020 100% · 2021 100% · 2022 100% · 2023 100% — broadly stable.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
66% of ANSWER2CANCER's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $50 that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from funders outside Oregon, across 1 state.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $97 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
