01What it does

What Andys Books for Kids Sounds Like A does

Mission

The organization strives to promote literacy by providing children in underserved areas with access to books they otherwise would not have, giving them the chance to advance their academic achievement and the opportunity to discover the sheer pleasure of losing themselves in the pages of a good book. We achieve our mission by raising funds to purchase new children's books and by organizing book drives for the donation of children's books. These books are distributed to these children of all ages via school libraries, pre-k programs, head start, after-school programs, homeless shelters and the like.

As stated on its FY2022 Form 990-EZ.

Program

  1. In 2022, the company was dissolved and all cash and inventory was donated to reading foundations and schools.

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of ANDYS BOOKS FOR KIDS SOUNDS LIKE A’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of ANDYS BOOKS FOR KIDS SOUNDS LIKE A's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $30k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
