Programs
The governance, advocacy and policy division is comprised of multiple departments spanning the aua, inc. And the auaer. The governance department of the aua sits within auaer and provides services to all committees, boards, and editorial panels of the aua, auaer, and ucf. These services are provided by the committee and society affairs (csa) team and, in 2025, csa appointed over 600 physician volunteers. Csa also is responsible for maintaining bidirectional communication with aua's eight sections and serves as the liaison with subspecialty and other medical specialty societies. In 2025, csa successfully conducted searches for and executed the appointments process for the aua secretary-elect, auaer education committee chair, auaer research committee chair, and auaer science & quality council chair, and filled auapac board vacancies. Csa also manages the awards and physician recognition programs and in 2025 led the selection of all aua awards presented at the 2025 annual meeting. Membership: the aua is a global membership organization with more than 25,000 members from over 100 countries worldwide. Through its leadership, the aua unites the global urologic community to advance urologic patient care around through world through education, research, and the formulation of health care policy. Aua members span the urologic care team, and the geographic breadth of aua's membership fosters strong relationships and an exchange of knowledge between urology professionals around the world. In 2025, the aua welcomed 4,300 new members across all membership categories.
Annual meeting: annually, the aua holds a conference focused on cutting-edge science and groundbreaking research in urologic medicine. Attracting more than 15,000 urologists, research scientists, and medical professionals in urology and clinical care, the meeting provides educational sessions on advancements in urologic research and is vital to the development of attendees' skills and knowledge. In 2025, the aua was successfully held in las vegas as an in-person meeting with a virtual component, expanding the reach of the educational content presented in the building through streamed presentations of key content. The meeting included plenary presentations, industry clinical updates showcasing advancements and innovations in laboratory equipment, pharmaceutical products, and diagnostic tools, instructional courses, and abstract presentations.
