01What it does

What American Association of Public Health Dentistry does

Mission

To improve the oral health of the public through education and leadership based on the principles of dental public health.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. The association sponsors the national oral health conference (nohc) jointly with the association of state and territorial dental directors. The nohc provides a platform for sharing experiences, learning opportunities on cutting edgeissues and networking for international and national dental public health professions. The recent meeting was held in louisville, ky and had approximately 824 attendees and 26 exhibitors. The association develops dental public health curriculum for dental and dental hygiene schools. Underwritten by a grant from the health resources and service adiministration (hrsa), aaphd is developing and currently testing a model curriculum that teaches the tenants of dental public health to be used in dental and dental hygiene schools. This curriculum will provide consistency in teaching about the specialty of dental public health. The association publishes a quarterly journal (journal of public health dentistry).
