01What it does

What Amazing Aven's Quest for Amoeba Awareness Inc does

Mission

We will provide funds to organizations and hospitals to help further research projects and raise awareness within the medical community. Through community sponsored events, billboards, brochures, and other media outlets aaqaa will model safe swimming activities to prevent future infections. All of our activities will be charitable in nature.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

  1. In order to fulfill our mission of funding research to improve the detection and treatment of nf we awarded a grant to the mossman lab at duke university. The ultimate goal of their reasearch is to develop an assay that can test csf for the presence of nf which would allow for easier and faster detection of nf infections. Currently the only method of detection is for lab technicians to physically see naegleria fowleri in the csf sample. We also, began meetings and connections with multiple other universities who are doing research projects on nf that we will be signing agreements with in early 2024.

Some of the events we attended include a mudcats baseball game (a semi-pro team in the area), events at local schools where we provided marketing materials regarding water safety and ways to prevent nf, and a holiday event with a local insurance company where we got to share aven's story. In addition we designed marketing materials including banners, shirts, hats, arm bands, and print materials for these events to increase community awareness.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2022 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 2 funders, grant income rose $220 → $1k.

1 of 2 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 59% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of AMAZING AVEN'S QUEST FOR AMOEBA AWARENESS INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

AMAZING AVEN'S QUEST FOR AMOEBA AWARENESS INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 59% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

59% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund AMAZING AVEN'S QUEST FOR AMOEBA AWARENESS INC.

Largest funder’s share by year: 2022 100% · 2023 50% — diversifying over time.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

59% of AMAZING AVEN'S QUEST FOR AMOEBA AWARENESS INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $500 that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from North Carolina funders.

NC

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $730 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
