Allergy Safe Kids (ask) was established in 2013 by a medical doctor and mother of children with food allergies to ensure that all children with life-threatening food allergies are safe in their school environments. Ask ensures their safety by providing allergy awareness and treatment training to school nurses so they are prepared to act in the case of a life- threatening allergic reaction. Those nurses then implement the curriculum into each of their schools and train other staff and faculty about allergy awareness and treatment. Trainings are conducted in collaboration with the co department of education (cde) and allergyhome, the creators of ask's curriculum. Ask trains the school nurses from Colorado's public schools at regional nursing conferences across the state.
