Mission

Programs

  1. Wiscaregiver careers is a grant-funded workforce development program administered by whca since 2020. The program is designed to address the certified nurse aide (cna) shortage in wisconsin nursing homes by providing free cna training, free certification testing, and a 500 bonus. In 2022, whca successfully closed a 400,000 grant from the wisconsin department of workforce development which funded the program from 2020-2022. Also in 2022, whca became sub-grantees on a 6 million cdc (centers for disease control and prevention) grant which funded the program from 2022-2024. Most of the grant funding is passed through whca to participating employers to reimburse them for their training and staff bonus expenses. Whca receives revenue from the cdc grant in the form of a 41% overhead fee charged to all staff hours covered by the grant. Whca continued working with wiscaregiver careers into april 2025, when whca no longer administered the grant.
