What Village Hydroponic Inc does
Mission
Village Hydroponics provides fresh culturally relevant produce to underserved communities including refugees immigrants and low-income families. Through sustainable hydroponic farming education and food access initiatives we strengthen food security support local farmers and promote community-led agriculture.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.
Programs
Village Hydroponics provided fresh culturally relevant produce to underserved communities through weekly free distributions. In partnership with local organizations such as the The Peoples Farmstand and The Peoples Kitchen we distributed approximately 3,000 pounds of produce benefiting 35 families on a weekly basis starting in October 2024 once construction of the farm was completed. This initiative helped combat food insecurity by ensuring consistent access to nutritious familiar foods for New American families free of charge.
$25,000 spentof which $21,498 as grants22% of program spendingIn 2024 Village Hydroponics completed the construction and setup of a community-driven hydroponic farm inside a repurposed shipping container. This initiative was made possible through multiple grants supporting infrastructure equipment and sustainable energy solutions. The build-out process engaged local volunteers students and community members who participated in hands-on learning about hydroponic farming energy efficiency and urban food production. As a result the farm now provides a year-round climate-resilient food source for local underserved communities and serves as an educational hub for future growers.
$80,000 spentof which $62,011 as grants70% of program spendingVillage Hydroponics provided training and mentorship opportunities for emerging farmers and youth interested in agriculture. We partnered with Randolph Union High School to mentor a senior for their capstone project and collaborated with UVM to offer an internship which resulted in a post-graduate career opportunity. Additionally we hosted a series of hands-on educational workshops on hydroponic farming and sustainable agriculture reaching over 40 participants. Similarly we hosted informational tours to 5 local schools 3 other farms 2 other non profit organizations and dozens of community members. We also gave guest lectures at one hydroponic conference and two universities.

Who funds it, year by year
Grant support over time, funder by funder — shade shows the grant size each year.
1 of 4 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 18% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of Village Hydroponic Inc’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
Village Hydroponic Inc leans on a few funders — its largest provides 36% of grant income and the top three 82%; half comes from just 2 funders.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left
54% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund Village Hydroponic Inc.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
100% of Village Hydroponic Inc's grant income comes from Vermont funders.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $10k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
