What True Troupe does

Mission

Public Charity focusing on literary education and community outreach.

As stated on its FY2026 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. True Troupe performs every year in our annual Classics in the Park series, where the troupe travels across Wyoming to perform in underserved communities. The troupe facilitates in educating the communities on theatrical literature in multiple ways, including but not limited to: the performance itself; a study guide provided by the management team to the audience explaining the history of the piece(s); talkbacks between the performers and the audience, where the performers answer questions, explain the historical meaning of the literature, and talk about the context of the piece(s). The troupe's annual Classics series alternates between two types of theatrical literature: Shakespearean (both comedies and tragedies) and other classics written and staged before 1900, such as "Lady Windermere's Fan," "Antigone," & "The Bacchae." By focusing on the alternating classics, True Troupe is able to benefit our performers, audiences, and other community organizations that we collaborate with to effectively educate those involved in any capacity. In 2024, the Classics in the Park performed Much Ado About Nothing eight times, in parks located in Buffalo WY, Sheridan WY, Laramie WY, Centennial…

  2. True Troupe collaborates with other organizations to provide actors for their educational events. True Troupe has attended and provided services to Visit Cheyenne and City of Cheyenne for their respective projects of The Haunted Trolleys, where troupe members are placed as famous local ghosts along the route, and Christmas Elves, where troupe members assist children in writing letters to Santa while waiting for the Pony Express to arrive and collect the messages; and the Haunted Civic Center on 19th Street, where troupe members assist children through a haunted house to learn how to search for clues. True Troupe has also collaborated with various nursing homes around Cheyenne to spread holiday cheer in December, and for the past three years, has spent four weeks performing holiday carols for those in nursing homes. True Troupe volunteers this caroling time freely, and the troupe does not get paid for their services during this project. The Haunted Trolleys and the Christmas Elves are lent actors for a period of six weeks each, where the actors are provided costumes and props by True Troupe to most effectively perform with the other organization. The Civic Center is lent actors for…
