What The W Foundation does
Mission
Foster humanitarian, cultural, & scientific endeavors by supporting organizations that educate and promote science, technology, engeering, mathemathics & economics.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Programs
Program expenditures and events replated to the apollo exhibit at the uss hornet museum which educates the general public about the aspects of manned space flight and the interrelationships of all sciences. The gemini boiler plate test splashdown module is on loan at the uss hornet. Assets are also on display at the chabot space science center. Estimated fair market value use of assets is valued at $48,000.
The "the space station" museum was shut down during the covid years. The program operations never recovered. Once the facility was closed, there was a dramatic lack of attendence, lack of volunteers and reduction in financial support.
The museum of american finance is supported by The W Foundation to promote education and awareness of math/economics. Assets on display at the museums include an edison ticker tape, stock certificates signed by john rockefeller, and colonial real estate deeds. Estimated fair market value of these of assets is valued at $14,400.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2018 to 2019, from $587k to $613k (+4%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
100% of THE W FOUNDATION’s revenue is contributions — more donation-reliant than the typical peer (89% for the typical peer).
Surplus & reserves

The officers, directors, trustees and key employees listed on each return. Joined and no longer listed compare each filing with the year before, matching people by surname and first initial; a year after a gap, or a roster under three people, has no comparison.
