01What it does

What The Cactis Foundation does

Mission

The Cactis Foundation is a community-based 501(c)3 institution focused on advancing the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. We accomplish this by supporting research-oriented preclinical and clinical programs, and early phase clinical trials and continuing medical education (cme) programs for health care professionals. Our current focus includes personalized medicine, theranostics and traumatic brain injury (tbi) aka concussions, in young athletes, victims of intimate partner violence (ipv), industrial and motor vehicle accidents, the military and first responders, with a significant attention to addressing health care delivery disparities and underserved populations.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.

Program

  1. The CACTIS Foundation continues to lead and coordinate the MC3DV (Maricopa County Collaboration on Concussion from Domestic Violence) with the Maricopa County Attorney's Office Family Violence Bureau, the Mesa and Tempe, Arizona Police Departments, the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix (UACOM-P), and the Phoenix VA Healthcare System Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program. The CACTIS Foundation continues to investigate and address the frequency and impact of TBI in the underrepresented, diverse cohort of intimate partner violence victims (women, men, and children), participate in educational programs and baseline concussion testing of youth athlete organizations focusing on concussions. CACTIS initiated and continues to emphasize the analysis of local, regional, and national data with the goal of creating a concussion registry and developing a "Best Practices" concussion assessment and treatment program in collaboration with the Arizona Department of Health Services. CACTIS has hosted and sponsored none (9) annual programs in Phoenix, Arizona since 2010: "Concussions: Advances in Sports Medicine and The Public Health Epidemic: Traumatic Brain Injuries in…
