We entered into a partnership with the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth to undertake a project named "Revolutionary Massachusetts: Stories of Promise and Progress" which is a public humanities initiative to recover the stories of African, Afro-Indigenous, and Indigenous patriots whose sacrifices during the American Revolution have too often been excluded from public memory. College students and community members will explore these histories through archival research, oral testimony, tribal knowledge, and descendant voices. They will join arts and literature workshops led by historians, artists, faculty, cultural leaders, and Wampanoag representatives. Through writing, visual art, and performance, students will wrestle with Revolutionary ideals and exclusions, producing unique and creative work, culminating in a public symposium and performance day to showcase the results of thier work and the project.
