What Sisters Lead Sisters Vote Inc does
Mission
To support the political power of Black women by amplifying their voices on issues important to the Black community.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Programs
Leadership Development: We partner with local organizations and volunteer networks, like Win With Black Women, to power their in-state organizing efforts by providing technical support and resources to enable them to support local Black women's leadership and foster a network that supports each other. SLSV fills the gap to support Black women's leadership by supporting their service, before and after the campaign. SLSV engages Black women?s leadership around improving the health and safety of our environment and key economic issues like paid leave for all and ERA at the local level where it really impacts our community.
$202,434 spent88% of program spendingResearch and Polling: SLSV will also host a research project that tracks, monitors and surveys Black women running for office to document their experience and shed light on the unique challenges faced by these women including: Cataloging Black Women Running for Office, Surveys, Focus Groups, Reports and Briefings.
$16,078 spent7% of program spendingStrategic Communications: SLSV works in coalition locally and nationally to push content and narratives that acknowledge, uplift and encourage Black women leaders and the community that supports them in both digital and traditional media. Combining our research and extensive network of Black women leaders, we ensure that they have access to the messages, graphics and original source materials to tell the story in their authentic way. SLSV will also host messaging convenings and trainings that will both empower Black women leaders as messengers and identify Black women to respond or ?clapback? on digital and traditional media when they are confronted with inaccurate information.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2022, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2022, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars.
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
100% of Sisters Lead Sisters Vote Inc’s revenue is contributions — more reliant on donations than three-quarters of its peers (99% for the typical peer).
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 2 of the last 3 reported years ran a deficit.
Leadership and staff
The officers, directors, trustees and key employees listed on each return. Joined and no longer listed compare each filing with the year before, matching people by surname and first initial; a year after a gap, or a roster under three people, has no comparison.

100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund Sisters Lead Sisters Vote Inc.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2020 71% · 2021 61% · 2022 41% · 2023 100% — growing more concentrated.
