What Servants of the Children of Light does
Mission
The Servants of the Children of Light is established in response to the universal cry rising up to the heart of god, to send laborers to the vineyard to seek out and serve christ in children, to belong completely to christ through religious consecration, the profession of the evangelical counsels, and to live in community in fraternal charity in view of being erected in the future as a religious institute of diocesan rite. The sisters, drawing from the rich tradition of st. Benedict, serve the church by contemplative prayer, and have the apostolate of catholic montessori education.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.
Programs
To renew the earthly city of god by serving christ in the child in humility and meekness so that the darkness of the world may be scattered by the light of the new jerusalem(is.9, is.60, rev.11, ps.52). The sisters will strive to assist the child in being conformed to the image of the son of god. To do so, the child is put into contact with christ "who teaches within" (st augustine) and the holy spirit who causes transformation into the image of god.
$59,685 spent100% of program spendingSt. Benedict, with remarkable foresight, realized that peace cmes form doing spiritual battle with "principalities and powers;"that the rebuilding of society begins with the rebuilding of the soul on the firm rock of christ. Because of the profound insight into the nature of monastic life, the rule of st. Benedict serves as an inspiration for the ordering of the community's life.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2021, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2021, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $71k to $173k (+143%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 0 of the last 4 reported years ran a deficit.
Who funds it, year by year
Grant support over time, funder by funder — shade shows the grant size each year.
1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of SERVANTS OF THE CHILDREN OF LIGHT’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
100% of SERVANTS OF THE CHILDREN OF LIGHT's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $10k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
