What Sangha Unity Network Inc does

Mission

Our mission is to educate, build connections, promote autonomy, and increase opportunities for all people to be accepted as valued, contributing members in our communities. We envision a Georgia where all people are valued (Continued on Schedule O)for their contributions, gifts, and capacities; where everyone belongs, is connected, and lives a life with dignity and choice.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Sangha Unity Network, Inc. (SUN) was awarded the Expanding Self-Advocacy grant again in 2021 from Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD). SUN has been working with self-advocates throughout Georgia to develop and establish a viable, grassroots, active self-advocacy network. Self-advocacy is not a program; it is a movement run by people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who speak up about what is important, make choices that matter and go after dreams. Self-advocates are supported by allies (people without disabilities) who believe in, advocate with, and support the self-advocacy movement. Self-advocacy has been growing across the US and in Georgia since the 1970s. The Expanding Self-Advocacy Grant from GCDD provides for formal structure and formal supports to grow the advocacy movement over the next few years in Georgia. SUN continues to produce videos and workshops for self-advocates and allies/supporters across the state. We held voter registration events across the state and worked legislatively to increase the wages of direct support professionals.

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of Sangha Unity Network Inc’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of Sangha Unity Network Inc's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $105k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
