Mission

The Aldama Elementary PTA raises funds annually to pay for enrichment programming for students, as well as support teachers and staff at the school. In FY2025, our programming expenses covered: music education, a garden ranger, after-school STEM classes, a teacher-staff luncheon, outdoor classroom construction, library funding, an astronomy night, and campus beautification.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. Education Through Music - Los Angeles (ETM-LA) is a music education program which provides instruction to all Aldama Elementary students throughout the school year (approximately 350 children). Two concerts are performed each year for families and local community, one in the winter and one in the spring. ETM-LA's goal is to incorporate music education into students' daily lives, with the ultimate purpose of getting the school to recognize the importance of music education and potentially hire a music teacher through their own budgeting process. https://etmla.org/

  2. EnrichLA is a school gardening program where a "Garden Ranger" teaches students about our food system, the importance of good nutrition, and environmental stewardship. This program serves all Aldama Elementary students (approximately 350). Students participate in planting and maintaining the garden along with the ranger. https://www.enrichla.org/

  4. The Reflections Art Contest is a National PTA art competition where students from participating schools contribute their creative pieces in a variety of fields to be judged by PTA personnel. All Aldama students were invited to contribute work (approximately 350 students), and roughly 16 students were selected to advance to the 10th District level. Students who participated were provided with art supplies as a congratulations for participating.

  5. Our remaining programs--movie night, astronomy night, and campus beautifications--are annual events where we invite all students, family, and friends of the Aldama school community to come and enjoy our beautiful campus. Beautifications took place on a monthly basis throughout the year where attendees helped plant natural habitat, clean up trash, and organize our outdoor space around the playground. On average, 15-20 people showed up per event. Snacks and drinks were paid for by the PTA. At movie night, we showed "Coco" to our attendees, approximately 200 people. The PTA paid for the movie license, and offered free popcorn. Our annual astronomy night included STEM-based activities for students and families to participate in, as well as telescope viewings of the moon, planets, and stars. PTA funds were used to pay for activity supplies.
