01What it does

What PRH Preservation Inc does

Mission

PRH Preservation (PRHP) works to continue the Third Ward's historical character and culture as it transitions while accelerating the neighborhood's redevelopment by raising money to subsidize individual projects.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. PRHP purchases existing single-family homes in the area, renovates them, and rents them to low-income individuals at subsidized, below-market rates. On February 5, 2018, Project Row Houses ("PRH") conveyed to PRHP one block of land in Houston's Third Ward. PRH had acquired the Webster Block with funding from the Kinder Foundation. This transfer in early 2018 marked the beginning of PRHP's current development efforts in the area. Upon renovation and construction, PRH Preservation leases these homes to lower- and moderate-income residents at below-market rates and operates similar properties. Like the Webster Block houses, the homes owned by PRH Preservation will operate below break-even and will be subsidized by charitable contributions.
