Programs
Summer Camp. Over richly diverse 500 campers joined us for Summer Camp - Shine On! - which focused on exploring how we let our lights shine, become helpers in a broken world, and deepen our relationship with our Creator. Our leadership were all new to their roles and brought an outstanding level of practicality and hospitality to children that earned us the top spot in a local contest - the Memphis Parent Family Choice Awards. Our donors continue to make Pinecrest summer camp one of the more affordable options in west Tennessee and the Mid-South.
$49,077 spent$251,245 earned by the program10% of program spendingCamp Maintenance and Repairs. Our donors rallied and replaced the roof on one of our largest buildings, the Lodge, which houses our kitchen and dining facilities along with a big meeting space and two bedrooms. We battled replacing air conditioners and using aging facilities. Pinecrest was happy to host the Mariners in Mission group that painted, made completely new curtains for 8 cabins, and worked on electrical systems in our Chapel. Additionally, we re-keyed all of our cabin spaces, and we continue to replace lighting with Dark Sky approved fixtures.
$32,067 spent6% of program spendingYear-Round Programming. More of our local schools benefitted from our expanded offerings of environmental overnight retreats and one-day field trips. They were interested in the Civil War history of the area as well as our positioning over the Memphis Sand Aquifer which is an unparalleled natural resource spanning more than 7,000 square miles across portions of eight states. We continue to be a leading source of discovery with our International Dark Sky Project that reveals the heavens in new and exciting ways. In the summer, about 25 state and national agency employees and interns met at Pinecrest to extract a soil monolith - a feat seldom accomplished - in honor of Dr. Paula Gale, a widely respected soil scientist and founder of Pinecrest's Gale Environmental Education Center (GEEC).

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2020, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2020, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2023 to 2024, from $435k to $550k (+27%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
25% of PINECREST CAMP AND RETREAT CENTER INC’s revenue is contributions — about as donation-reliant as the typical peer (83% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
Grant support over time, funder by funder — shade shows the grant size each year.
1 of 2 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 71% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of PINECREST CAMP AND RETREAT CENTER INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
PINECREST CAMP AND RETREAT CENTER INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 71% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
71% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund PINECREST CAMP AND RETREAT CENTER INC.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
71% of PINECREST CAMP AND RETREAT CENTER INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $3k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from Tennessee funders.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $6k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
