01What it does

What Northern Canada Evangelical Mission Inc does

Mission

NCEM exists to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ among and in partnership with the Aboriginal Peoples of Canada and related people groups.

As stated on its FY2022 Form 990.

Programs

On its FY2022 return the organization reported a significant change in how it conducts a program.

Northern canada evangelical mission usa, inc., was formed as a domestic nonprofit corporation incorporated in montana on january 30, 1989, to support missionary work with the aboriginal people groups of canada. The montana corporation was administratively dissolved due to lack of timely annual reporting with the montana secretary of state. The board was unaware of this administrative event under state law and has continued to perform its charitable operations as if the corporation was in good standing for several years. In august 2020, the leadership of ncem working with legal counsel identified that the state legal entity originally formed under montana law in 1989 had been administratively dissolved due to failure to file annual reports. Montana code section 35-6-201(5) precludes reinstatement of the administratively dissolved montana corporation, as more than five years have elapsed since the dissolution. Thus, to correct the issue, the most legally appropriate action was to form a new corporation for state law purposes, secure a new fein (as required by the irs), and apply for tax-exempt status as a successor corporation under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. On october 10, 2020, friends of ncem, inc.'s articles of incorporation were filed with the idaho secretary of state. The newly-formed entity then secured a fein (85-3366725) and filed a new form 1023 application for recognition of exempt status as a public charity. This application was approved in…
