To engage in and otherwise promote for the benefit of the people of the surrounding area, the preservation of the nissitissit river and its surrounding lands as a natural area or type of "wild river", to preserve the quality of the environment and natural resources of the land, marshland, woodland and open spaces, and the plant and animal life therein, and the unique scenic and historic sites, and the maintenance of the waters of the nissitissit river unpollute and clear-running.
