Mission
National institute of aerospace (nia) is a non-profit research and graduate education institute functioning as a partner with the nasa langley research center (larc), other government agencies and laboratories, universities, and industry. Nia conducts leading-edge research and technology development in space exploration, aeronautics, and science. In addition, nia offers a broad multi-university graduate education and outreach program.

Programs
Research program:nia's research staff collaborate with nasa, providing direct technical support spanning the breadth of larc's research portfolio. Additionally, research was also performed by university faculty and graduate students (at both nia member and non-member institutions), small businesses, and independent subject matter experts. Nia researchers authored or co-authored many technical publications, either presented at national or international conferences, or appearing in technical journals. As nasa langley's strategic research partner, each year nia plans, facilitiates, and hosts a variety of short courses, workships and seminars in support of center initiatives and continuing workforce training, nia supported one (1) short courses/workshops, and eight (8) technical seminars during the year. The administrative support for these activities is provided by nia staff.
