What Los Angeles Bioscience Hub does
Mission
LA Bioscience Hub supports development and growth of bioscience related research, development and manufacturing enterprises in East Los Angeles. LA Bioscience Hub brands and promotes an LA Bioscience Corridor to attract public and private investments into the area.
As stated on its FY2021 Form 990-EZ.
Program
LABH serves as a network builder among bioscience related organizations and firms operating on the Eastside of Los Angeles. LABHs primary program is the Biotech Leaders Academy BLA. To date, it has provided training, education, and professional development to about 60 young adults. Most program participants are members of low-income and BIPOC communities. The BLA program was paused in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, LABH secured funding to resume the programs in 2022. LABH identified a new consultant to oversee administration of the bioscience leaders academy in 2022, recruit candidates, place students in internships, and provide trainings.
The first program described on its most recent Form 990-EZ.
The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2018 to 2019, from $107k to $33k (−70%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 3 of the last 5 reported years ran a deficit.
