What Lassen Association does
Mission
The Lassen Association promotes the discovery of Lassen Volcanic National Park, enriches the experience of visitors, and supports the preservation and protection of the park for future generations
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Program
Lassen Association supported the mission of Lassen Volcanic National Park by enhancing the visitor experience and fostering a deeper understanding of the park's unique volcanic landscape. Through its retail operations, membership program, and adoption programs, the organization provided vital support for the park's educational, interpretive, and scientific research programs.During periods of reduced National Park Service staffing resulting from government budget cuts, Lassen Association staff served as an important point of contact for visitors. Staff answered questions, provided current park information, offered trip-planning assistance, and connected visitors with available park resources, helping ensure a welcoming and informative experience despite limited government staffing.Through these combined efforts, Lassen Association helped visitors better understand and connect with the natural and cultural resources of this remarkable volcanic wonderland in Northern California while contributing to the preservation, stewardship, and long-term success of the park

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2017 to 2018, from $320k to $858k (+168%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2021 9% · 2024 8%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
7% of LASSEN ASSOCIATION’s revenue is contributions — more earned-revenue than three-quarters of its peers (64% for the typical peer).
