The nonprofit (now "land matters" pursuant an amendment to the articles of organization effective december 15, 2025) continues to focus on 1) the acquisition and preservation of agricultural land and ecologically significant forest land with a view to leasing it, along with associated housing, at affordable rates to new and beginning and underserved farmers, 2) conducting educational programming related to history, science, natural resources, agriculture and farm and forest stewardship, and 3) providing public gathering space and recreational working trails. The nonprofit has determined not to pursue the tunbridge farm project as initially outlined in its form 1023. After diving into the details, financial and otherwise, the board of directors determined that for the nonprofit, this was not a viable project. The activities set out in the nonprofit's 1023, however, remain the same, e.g. 1) acquire, preserve and steward ecologically significant farmland and forested land; 2) provide affordable housing, farmland and building space for underserved farmers; 3) educate the public about sustainable farming practices, good land stewardship, ecology, science and history and 4) provide public gathering space and recreational walking trails.
